River West Contemporary
Chicago
This contemporary condo west of Chicago’s Loop has excellent “bones,” but lacked both functional and architectural details. With the addition of the Burmese printer’s tray screen, the dining area is carved from the kitchen and entry space. With minimal reconstruction, the “standard issue” builder’s kitchen now houses a niche for microwave and pantry storage.
The owner’s color palette is expanded with mid-range colors and tones. Warm colors play off the eggplant accent while the glass backsplash offers a cool crisp contrast.
