Vacation Cottage
New Hampshire

We updated this cottage, which consists of a circa 1910 camp cabin with two later additions, to give it a more welcoming exterior appearance, better integrate the additions into a cohesive whole, and improve and update the interior.

A new entry foyer with stone tile floor was carved out of existing corridor space. The kitchen was re-organized to become more efficient while providing a new breakfast area and an improved view to the adjacent pond bay. We opened the living room (the original cabin) to the pond views with new wood framed sliding patio doors and a large gable-end window. An existing loft area was opened to the living room, thus expanding the perceived size of both areas while new wood ceilings help unify the space and maintain the cozy atmosphere.

Outside, the entire cottage was re-clad in traditional cedar shingles, a new Craftsman-style entry porch with stone piers and entry door with sidelights were added, and all the windows were either replaced or updated.

An eclectic and comfortable collection of furnishings and new lighting inside and out unify the whole experience of this cozy weekend retreat.
